Encouraging Strengthening Sharing
Worship Folder for
18th Sunday After Pentecost
Thank you for visiting the St. Stephen webpage! As the pastor of St. Stephen, I want to take this opportunity to invite you to check us out. Whether you are a lifelong Christian, new to the faith, visiting the area or just curious what a church community is all about, you are welcome here. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we invite you to explore with us.
We welcome your questions! But we don't have all the answers. What you will find here are other pilgrims on the journey of life; everyday people who are honestly exploring and trying to live the Christian faith.
A Christian community is about exploring, serving, and caring together for the sake of the world. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome in this place. Come and see!
Peace be yours,
Pr. Robert G. Schaefer
Weekly Adult Education
Adult Education returns to St. Stephen on Thursday, September 23 at 7pm. This will be a nine-week class called “Who are we Lutherans? Together by Grace.” It will use scripture and the Augsburg Confession (the 16th century document that defines the Lutheran understanding of the Christian faith) to discuss what makes us distinctively “Lutheran” and how Lutheran Christians understand God and humanity, faith and good works, grace and salvation, the church, the scriptures and the sacraments. The ZOOMlink is available in the weekly E-Messenger or by emailing the office.
Blessing of the animals--October 2
The annual blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis will take place on the front porch of the church on Saturday, October 2 from 10am to 1pm. Bring your pets for a blessing and a tag for their collar! There will also be special gifts and snacks.
onlinE tithes AND DONATIONS
Did you know you can offer your tithes and donations right here, right now, online? Did you know you can donate toward our Change for Change Tower?
You can give online through this website and/or set up automatic offerings if you wish so you don’t need to fill an envelope each week. Electronic gifts are fast and secure, and they reduce administrative costs, allowing more of every dollar to fund the important work we are called to do. There are plenty of other benefits, too! You can give anytime, anywhere to your favorite funds. It's convenient for those who like to make payments with a debit card or credit card. Schedule and manage recurring donations. Make one-time donations to special appeals. Pay for events, programs and other activities online. If you would like to give electronically, click the blue button below. It's that simple!
THE HOLY GRILL continues to serve food each week
In partnership with the Holy Grill feeding truck of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, St. Stephen serves breakfast and dinner to the hungry, homeless and the working poor: breakfast each Wednesday at 9 a.m., and dinner on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. The meals are offered in the church's parking lot. On Wednesday morning we also have a clothing ministry in the parking lot. Please be in touch if you would like to volunteer to help.
We are collecting clothing donations We always need men’s/women’s underwear, socks, T-shirts, shorts, towels. They can be dropped in the parish office during the week or brought to church on Sunday.
