Our worship is set in the rich yet flexible context of the ancient pattern of Christian worship, including song, prayer, scripture, relevant Biblically-based preaching, and the sharing of the Lord's Supper. While the details differ from Sunday to Sunday and from season to season, Lutherans follow the ancient and ecumenical four-fold pattern for Sunday worship as described in our worship book, Evangelical Lutheran Worship:
GATHERING: The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.
WORD: God speaks to us in scripture reading, preaching, and song.
MEAL: God feeds us in holy communion with the presence of Jesus Christ.
SENDING: God blesses us and sends us in mission to the world.
At St. Stephen, our worship is a vibrant and welcoming blend of contemporary and traditional music led by an ensemble or choir.
Our Liturgy of Word and Sacrament is followed each week by fellowship and refreshments as we gather in the narthex outside the sanctuary.
