OUR HEARTS ARE OPEN.
SO ARE OUR DOORS.
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!

Thank you for visiting the St. Stephen webpage! Whether you are a lifelong Christian, new to the faith, visiting the area or just curious what a church community is all about, you are welcome here. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we invite you to explore with us.

We welcome your questions! But we don't have all the answers. What you will find here are other pilgrims on the journey of life; everyday people who are honestly exploring and trying to live the Christian faith.

A Christian community is about exploring, serving, and caring together for the sake of the world.  No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome in this place. Come and see!

Peace and blessings,

UPCOMING EVENTS

ATTENTION VOTING MEMBERS
OF ST. STEPHEN

Please join us in the sanctuary on Sunday, March 18, 2025 at 11:45 a.m. for a special congregation meeting to vote on the call of the Rev. Dr. Victor Jortack. This is an important moment in the life of our congregation, and your voice matters. The St. Stephen Council deeply values your input and is grateful for your presence and participation. A reminder: our Constitution requires at least 20 voting members to be present in order to conduct official business. We hope to see you there.

FLOWER CHART 2025

There is a new Flower Chart on the bulletin board in the narthex. If you wish to donate flowers on a particular Sunday, please provide that information on the flower chart. The offering is $35.

Update on
Mini Blessing Bag Ministry

In our day-to-day travels we each encounter people in need, and Blessing Bags are one way you can help. What are Blessing Bags? These gallon-size storage bags contain basic supplies like water, snacks, toiletries, and information about community resources, and they can be kept in your vehicle to hand out when you see someone who may need help. Blessing Bags are an extension of our ongoing commitment with our partners at St. Nicholas to serve the hungry, and by distributing them as we’re out and about in the community, we can reach even more people. Blessing Bags are available in the gathering area outside the sanctuary to take with you after worship. Please grab a bag and keep it in your car this week to distribute when you spot someone who may be in need of a helping hand. Thank you!

THE HOLY GRILL SERVES food and clothing each week

Picture

In partnership with the Holy Grill feeding truck of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, St. Stephen serves two meals to the hungry, homeless and the working poor: breakfast each Wednesday at 9 a.m., and dinner on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. The meals are offered in the church's parking lot. We continue to serve more than 50 people in need each Wednesday. Please be in touch if you would like to volunteer to help.

In addition, on Wednesday mornings we have a clothing ministry in the parking lot.
We serve as a mail center for homeless members of the community and help with services such as emergency bus passes and homeless letter for issuance of Florida ID cards and other services.

We are always seeking support  for our clothing ministry by bringing any of the following items to church on Sundays or dropping them off at the office between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on any weekday:
Items we can use:
Women’s:
Blouses, socks, pads, underwear, pants, flip-flops.
Men’s: socks, T-shirts, pants, flip-flops, underwear
Toiletries: Tissues (travel size), combs, toothbrushes, Q-tips, deodorant, toothpaste.
Items we CANNOT use:
Dress suits, women’s business attire, dress shoes, high-heeled shoes.

Change for Change Tower

Our Change for Change Tower focuses
on a local service organization each month.
Florida-Bahamas Synod assembly project
Our Tower for Change for May will be donated to the organization being supported by the 2025 Florida-Bahamas synod assembly, Hope Partnership in Kissimmee. The organization was formed in 2011 to meet the needs of the growing number of families and children experiencing poverty and living in hotels and motels along Highway 192. They have grown by providing a holistic community to meet the needs of the poor and homeless. Thanks, as always, for your generous giving!
Bring or send your loose change to church and let's fill up the Change for Change Tower.
Even pennies count.
